Park zones and visitor options

Park zones and visitor options

Bannerughatta Biological Park includes a zoo, safari, Butterfly Park and Rescue Centre across 731.88 hectares. It was carved out of Bannerghatta National Park under a Karnataka government notification dated 5 March 2004 and placed under the Zoo Authority of Karnataka.

The safari begins with a 68-hectare Herbivore Safari, where deer, antelope and cattle-family species roam in a shared naturalistic landscape. For this part of the visit, the park provides protected, closed buses and jeeps in partnership with Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation.

That makes the safari a separate option from walking through the zoo. The park says you may need to walk about 2 to 3 km, so allow time on foot as well as time for any safari you plan to take. South Bengaluru’s local stops and campuses are covered in this guide to nearby places.
